Mission

What Sets Us Apart

Human Law’s mission is to make top-quality human rights and human resources legal services accessible to the people who need them.

Founder Michael DeRosenroll is a lawyer with 17 years of experience across Canada, working for employees and employers, and has served as legal counsel to three directors of the Alberta Human Rights Commission. There he saw the need to make human rights and human resources legal services accessible to ordinary people, small businesses, and non-profit organizations, and the opportunity to make it affordable by embracing technology to provide modern, client-centered, virtual legal services.

Human Rights Law

Human Resources Law

Human Rights claims are legal claims related to one or more Protected Grounds, which include gender, race, religion, age and disabilities. Within this, a wide variety of different sorts of claims can arise, including sexual harassment and violence, racial profiling, disability claims, disputes about accommodating protected grounds at work, bullying, elder abuse, and many other forms of discrimination.

Every Canadian province has human right legislation allowing human rights claims, and depending on the situation there may be additional options like injury claims or constructive dismissal. Whether you have experienced discrimination or have had a claim made against your business or organization, Human Law can help.

Human Law is dedicated to helping clients resolve workplace-related disputes, from injury and disability claims, to harassment and bullying problems, to hiring and firing disputes, privacy law, and professional licensing issues.

Human Resources issues are among the most stressful legal issues a person can experience in their life. When your job and livelihood is on the line, or you don’t feel safe a work because of bullying or sexual harassment, the stress weighs on you every waking moment. If you are an employer, these issues can completely derail you from focusing on your business if they get out of hand. Human Law will help take this stress off your shoulders and put workplace problems behind you.

What Are

Virtual Legal Services

Your lawyer and their support team work remotely (home offices) and pass the overhead savings on to you. You meet with your lawyer on platforms like MS Teams or Zoom (or old-fashioned telephone), and we strive to be paperless so documents are exchanged electronically and signed using e-signature software. For many clients this is not only more affordable, but also more convenient than trudging down to their lawyer’s office, and you still get the benefit of a relationship with a lawyer who knows you and is dedicated to serving you.
What Sets Human Law Apart

Subscription Service

Human Law offers a subscription service for small businesses and non-profit organizations that makes the benefits of an in-house legal department affordable. Many costly lawsuits and legal problems are avoidable if you talk to a lawyer right away, but many cost-conscious businesses and non-profits wait until too late because of the cost of engaging a lawyer. A legal subscription is like a cheap insurance policy, so you can get timely legal advice when you really need it.
